Telford is fortunate in having a large district general hospital. Situated in over 50 acres of parkland in the delightful county of Shropshire, the Princess Royal Hospital (PRH) NHS Trust was opened in 1989. It serves the residents of East Shropshire, including the new town of Telford and the surrounding rural areas to the North and South.
The Princess Royal Hospital provides a range of acute services including: –
- Accident and emergency
- Care of the elderly
Outpatient services and day surgery for gynaecology, ear, nose and throat, dermatology, ophthalmology and rheumatology are provided at the hospital by Consultants from the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, and the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital at Oswestry.
Within the grounds of the hospital sits a maternity unit, and there are private healthcare facilities available at the Apley Clinic within the PRH, and at Nuffield hospitals in Shrewsbury and Wolverhampton.
Local facilities can be found at the heart of the main residential areas – the district centres.
